"We have a very limited presence of Tefal here in some categories such as cookware, which is primarily imported, steam irons, and vacuum cleaners. But now, we are getting Tefal into bigger categories from an Indian perspective," Kakkar told PTI.
Eyeing growth in the premium segment, Tefal has expanded into the smart home appliances category, and is aiming to grow its distribution network across the country.
Groupe SEB, a French multinational, operates in India with the brand Maharaja Whiteline, which it acquired in 2014, and the global brand Tefal. Premium brand Tefal contributes 20 per cent to the total revenue while the remaining 80 per cent is from home-grown Maharaja Whiteline, which addresses the mass market opportunity.
